This house dates from the Eighteenth Century, and was the home of the artist E.A.Hornel, one of the Glasgow Boys group, from 1901 to 1933. Aside from some of his paintings, the house also has a collection of rare copies of Burns poems. Hornel spent quite some time in Japan, and was profoundly influenced by his visits, in both his painting and garden style.
